We designed the Duke to be a beautiful, accessible race where “everyday” and “hardcore” athletes can find a place to play!
It’s not an easy course by any means, but we wanted to provide a season closer where people had the opportunity to enjoy themselves with their families and friends, in a spectacular setting.
If you’ve not heard of Tigh Mor then have a wee google before you sign up – you are going to be hard pushed to find a more beautiful and scenic backdrop to a triathlon anywhere in the world. Think how amazing your finishing photo will look!
We are working closely with Triathlon Scotland to make sure this event meets the standards that everyone expects of Scottish Triathlon.

Registration will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (depending on the race you registered for) – please keep an eye on the website for more information regarding time and place.
Race information will not be sent out prior to the event and the final instructions will be posted on the event Facebook site and website approximately 2 weeks prior to the event.
The Big Duke – Olympic Distance Triathlon
The Duke Triathlon is the perfect Olympic distance triathlon for experienced and first-timers. It is in the main off-road which gives the opportunity for traffic-free fun. We will be offering other opportunities for all of the family to get involved; which will give a chance to combine a family holiday with a “surprise!” opportunity to race.
Distances are 1.5km Swim, 37km cycling, 8km running!
The Duke Triathlon is the perfect triathlon for the novice, a fast, fun race to cut your teeth on or if you are a grizzled triathlete already the perfect chance to combine a family holiday with a “surprise!” opportunity race. The routes are mainly off road and will be challenging but doable.
Distances are 400m Swim, 18.5 km cycling, 2.5 km running!
Off-road bikes only- we recommend a Mountain Bike, Cross Bike or Hybrid!
The swim and T1 are based at Tigh Mor on the shores of Loch Achray.
A 1 lap route on beautiful Duke’s Pass following the Three lochs forest drive before coming back to A821 through Achray Farm and Brig’o Turk!
2 laps of a mainly off-road circuit on the private, unique and stunning Tigh Mor estate
We have also decided to hold a free kid’s run race of 1.2km after the main event finishes. We will manage entries on the day for this informal event, where completion rather than competition will be the focus; therefore we will not have official timing.
We want this Duke event to be as friendly as possible, why not involve your family and make it part of a great weekend.
There will be substantial safety cover on the loch to guide and provide safety cover.
All competitors should please note: the United Kingdom inland waters are not completely safe for swimming, although risks of disease are low and risks of serious infection are minute (we have NO concerns about Loch Achray, but do take your safety seriously). A swimmer who may be susceptible to infection through immune suppression, are advised not to enter the event if he or she is not in good health at the time of swimming.
Water quality testing will be carried out in the 4 weeks lead into the event. Our final microbiological readings will be posted on duketriathlon.com the week prior to the event.
Onsite during the event will be Paramedics, Doctors and First Aiders all highly experienced at supplying the highest calibre of comprehensive medical cover at a range of sporting events.
We ask that all athletes show a sensible approach towards entering the event and if you feel at all unwell either prior, during or after the event you either withdraw and or seek assistance from the Medical Team.
All marshals will receive an event memento, food & drink.
